Our activities include raising awareness of shelter and environmental issues in developing countries and in the UK. Group members include a wide range of practical building, geoscience and environmental expertise.
Housing & Hazards has contributed to practical and academic research since 1994.

• The Housing & Hazards Group have conducted field research in northern Bangladesh.

• In collaboration with the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, the Housing & Hazards Group have undertaken materials testing and studies of natural wind break arrangements using a wind tunnel at the University of Exeter.
• The Group have promoted 6 international workshops and seminars in Exeter and Dhaka
• The Group has published four books and contributed papers and discussions to many academic journals and conferences in UK. Bangladesh and India
• The Housing & Hazards Group are actively investigating further links with groups in India and Latin America.

The Housing & Hazards Group is currently working to produce and deliver a national strategy for housing in Bangladesh. This will provide a framework for the mission of the Group and other organisations to achieve secure, sustainable, affordable and durable housing for all in Bangladesh.
